Better than the Dish DTVpal?

Why the red? I am thinking of jumping on this because it seems like a good deal for antenna and converter box, but I am a little scared by all the red I am seeing.

Anyone want to share their thoughts?

I think the fact that it's posted in the Free Stuff forum and isn't free might explain a lot of the red.

$8 != Free => RED!

Hmmm ... when I got the notification of this thread, the link showed it as being located in Hot Deals, not Free Stuff.

Anyway, it's in Hot Deals now, but people are still giving it more red...

Just in case anyone else has 2 coupons which need to be used (as I do), they have a double bundle on which you can use two coupons:

2-Pack

This comes to two of everything in the OP's link, and it's for $80 (free after two coupons). Shipping to PA comes to $10 for me ($5 per unit).

Not a bad deal why give the guy red.

Probably because the only folks that need a converter box are those without cable or sat TV or without an HDTV set with digital OTA tuner, which in 2008 nearly 2009 is pretty lame . Get a new HDTV with ATSC tuner and dump the old sets or get basic cable (here, limited basic is $12.xx per month). The antenna is probably not going to help much either.

The mods did move this from hot deals to free stuff and now back to hot deals, which explains some of the confusion.

I wonder the same thing, I recently just saw the DTVPal in a store the other day. I doubt I'd get my coupons in time for this deal though, still haven't ordered them yet, still too much confusion for me.

Now that it's in the right forum, I've removed my red.

Finally got some green here. believe me this converter box is a good one and i know that antenna is better than rabbit ear antenna for HD signal.

does it give good reception on weak signals? I live far from the tv towers and don't get all the channels with dtvpal. Is there a site that compares tuner sensititvity?

also are there any boxes that are totally free after coupon/free shipping?

Good question. mine $9 shipping. Some websites sell cheap plastic boxes for free but no free HD antenna.

So the antenna can be used independent of the converter box with this product (for those who have satellite or cable and are simply attempting to pull in an OTA HD signal)?

Get the Zenith box or the ChannelMaster, both very good in that dept. I don't think you are going to find a totally free box but you can get the Zenith for $10 with coupon if you have a Kmart by you, I think RadioShack carries them as well.

At the end of the day, you may just have to get a full size UHF antenna... if you want you could try to mount one in your attic first. But optimal is to mount it outside on a good size mast.

That is an indoor antenna and works with any converter boxes and LCD HD TV.
