Experts,

please reply if this is a good deal or should I only focus on 1080P TV's. Considering that I guess the latest is now 120HZ. I am not that technical a person but want to buy a TV for next 3-4 years, and I will only be using it for movies and Gaming.

Thank you all, really appreciate your time and help.

If you are upgrading from a tube TV, you'll never know the difference between 720 and 1080.

Kirth it depends how far from the tv you will be sitting and the source of what you are watching.
If you plan on playing games on PS3 and watching Blu-Ray you will be taking advantage of 1080p.
However if you sit far from the tv you may not be able to tell the difference between 720p and 1080p regardless of the source.
Read this 1080p vs 720p

I agree. The difference between tube and 720 is night and day. The difference between 720 and 1080 is hardly noticeable until you get up into the 50" range and even then its not nearly as significant as you would think.

Not to thread-pop, but if you are the willing to risk type...YMMV

Find an auction on eBay $799-$825 range with free shipping, no tax.
Log into your eBay account and see if you have a 15% off coupon (max $100)

Use the microsoft live 25% off link into eBay.

Here is how my deal worked out

$799 - 15% ($100 max) = $699
MS$ Cash = $200 off (they take it off the $799)

Total - Right under $500 delivered, no tax. My Panasonic 42 720p arrives next Tuesday!

Good luck!

If you are buying a 42" set you are probably wasting money to pay for 1080p. Too small to see the extra detail (which is only available on BR discs and some video games - NOT on broadcast TV) unless you plan on sitting really close to the set.

agree with most of the 1080p comments except that if you will use this as a computer monitor you may want to go with a 1080p tv.

other than that, no reason to.

can I get this price from the B&M to save the delivery? Will the store match the price online? Will Bestbuy match the price online? Thanks!

If Circuit City would price match and you use AAA coupon it would come to roughly $566 taxes included. Thats a pretty decent price.

Where is the live 25% off link? Is the idea to search through live.com for the same item listing that I previously found (the one with free shipping and no tax)? Also how can I tell if I have the 15% coupon?

Thanks.
