In light of microcenter's preBF sales I was looking around for alternative sources for the wind.

Mwave.com has the 6-cell/bluetooth version:
Regular $439.99 - $50 Mwave Instant Discount = $389.99
s/h ~$11 for me + 2%fc

Not sure if I'm willing to bite yet... (does Mwave tax?)

That's $10 better than eBay sellers, and half the typical shipping cost. MSI's smallest HDD offering for a Wind, but it has the bigger battery (5+ hours of use) and Bluetooth. Upgrade the RAM to the max 2gb and maybe get a bigger hard drive (if you need it), and you've got the best netbook you can get.

Model: U100-053US
Color: Black
RAM: 1gb DDR2
HDD: 80gb SATA I
802.11: b/g (no N)
Bluetooth: Yes
Battery: 6 cell

That is a nice price for a 6 cell wind. Small-ish hard drive (compared to an Aspire One 160gb drive) but the wind gets good reviews. A little larger and maybe heavier than some of the other netbooks, but you do get a 10" screen. If a wind is what you want, I think I would jump on it. If I didn't already have the AA1 6 cell I think I would get this for myself .

I found this also yesterday while doing some searching. I'm not liking the small hard drive though. only reason for not buying.

Only 1 of the RAM chips is easily accessible. So if you order a 1 gb Wind, the max most people should hope to upgrade to is 1.5 gb.

If you want 2 gb of RAM, you pretty much have to order it that way.

Could you expand on the second ram chip being not easily accessible? I might have poor google skills, but i cant seem to find where it says that this computer has 2x512 chips. I did find many tutorials on how to install an additional 1gm ram chip to make it two, however. Maybe these are different models?

This is not true. The wind comes with either 512mb or 1gb of onboard RAM and a totally empty DDRII slot. If you have a model with 512 onboard, the max you can upgrade to is 1.5GB. If you have a model with 1gb onboard (like the one I am typing on right now), you can pop in a 1gb DDRII chip and have 2gb of RAM total (like I did).

As in that link you posted, once you remove the bottom cover, there is one RAM slot on the bottom of the board, which is easy to upgrade. Apparently the other slot is completely on the other side of the board, and would require removal of numerous components, like the hard drive, cd-rom, etc. I never tried to access the second slot, even though I have completely disassembled and rebuilt laptops before.

My wife's Wind had 1 gb of ram. The accessible slot had a 512 in it, which I replaced with a 1 gb chip. Now it has 1.5 gb.

Sounds like YMMV.

Costco.com has three Wind models. The non-bluetooth one is $350+10 shipping. I'm thinking that it might be worth spending the extra $60 so I don't have to wait outside Microcenter in the 20 degree cold this Saturday (plus get Costco's longer return period and extra warranty). They also have the white one for $350.

That's a separate deal from the live dot com CB. You should see the CB on the item purchase page before you go to PayPal. I just bought one today and the CB was instantly sent to my account so it's $290 OOP - that's $100 less than the original deal. And it's from the same company.

The OP's link doesn't work. When I go to Mwave it looks like the Love edition is the one with the rebate.

could you tell me exactly how you did this? I've tried finding an eBay CashBack on an msi wind u100, but eBay is never listed as being a store that has any kind of CashBack.
Never mind, I finally found the site (livingafrugallife.blogspot.com) that told me exactly what steps I was missing.
