Not earth shattering, but a great deal for past issues.
Zinio is offering electronic (not traditional hardcopy) issues of certain magazine's past months for .99 each:
Zinios past issues
This is a great deal if you missed one of your favorite magazine's issues, or meant to buy it but now it's off the newsstand. It's also a steal at 99 cents, but you must deal with the fact that it's electronic, so you'll have to read it on your computer or iPhone/iPod Touch. While I was looking around, I saw magazines as recent as September 2008.

Here's the magazines that are available:
PC Magazine
Electronic Gaming Monthly
Road and Track
American Photo
Car and Driver
Metropolitan Home
Elle
Transworld Snowboarding
Sportfishing
Spa Magazine
Ski Magazine
Saveuer
Resorts and Great Hotels
Parenting
Field and Stream

Enjoy.

where are the perennial favorites: us weekly and black hair?

Most or all of these magazines are available in hard copy subscriptions for well under 99 cents per issue. I might pay 99 cents or even a couple of bucks for access to ALL back issues of a particular magazine of interest, but 99 cents for each individual issue is just highway robbery.

Yep, I agree dchicago. I guess this is really an enticing deal if you've missed an issue and want to grab it and don't mind the digital format. I've tried to buy single issues via eBay before and between the cost and shipping, it's been enormous. I'd gladly pay 99 cents over that. However, for new issues, you're right -- a regular subscription can't be beat.

Great find, OP. I was missing 3 issues of PC Magazine from when my Zinio subscription lapsed and I was more than happy to pay 99 cents each, even picked up another that looked interesting.

Thank you,
Cogito

I'm impressed but who has an iPhone? Of the hundreds of people I know, I've only seen one or two in the wild. Plus, there are about 2 billion cellphones in the world, and I think Apple has only sold about 5 mill of those, a quarter of a percent by my calculation.

In the USA, ATT phone plans are significantly more expensive than others. We moved form them after they changed pricing after the merge with Cingular. We have TMOBILE 3000 regional minutes for 50 bucks a month and 100MB of web for $10 (minus affiliation discount, so total is $54.00); ATT would be $135 or so for unlimited (2.5 times as much, or an additional $972 a year plus tax, etc. Granted, you get a bit more, but that is the cheapest I can compare it to.

No harm meant, but I know you Apple people are a bit are a bit touchy.

All that said, I would like an iPhone, but the only person that ever calls me on cell is my wife (nobody else has the number), and it's not worth a grand a year to get a call every 4-6 weeks from her...still have a Sprint PCS Pioneer account that is free for life plus 35 cents a minute; costs me like 10 bucks a year to have a cellphone and, for Internet, I have all kinds of other devices in various places on which I can read ZINIO stuff anyplace through their web reader.

Regards,
Cogito
