While scoring 3 Nokia 1112 Tracfone for 2.97 each with 80 minutes of talktime, scored a Canon Rebel XS on clearance in the box for $399.97. The funny part is, i got the camera, 2 batteries and a second lens for the same price. One lens was on the camera, i think the box was for the display but i was not going to ask, bag it.

SKU? Receipt scan? Good job if you got it.

EDIT: I think he meant the Canon XT.

You obviously have no idea what camera he is talking about. XS has been out for a few years now, even its successor the XTi has been out for a couple years and the XTi's successor the XSi has been out since May of this year.

The irony

I misread it as the XT and stupidly enough made myself look even dumber looking by putting 'XS' on my post.

EDIT: I'm a retard. I need to learn to not criticize.

I got an XTi for this price today, was the XS price for the display or was it just in the box at that price?

I saw the XTi at two different stores yesterday, and both scanned at $399.97. Neither store had an XS in stock.

Anyone else get this deal on the XS? I think I'm going to be taking back the XTi because it doesn't have an IS lens and the XS does (cheaper to get an XS for like $460-$480, then to buy a new lens for XTi).

Sigh.. I'm below 1/4 tank gas and you're making me want to drive over to Sears tomorrow night! And the one furthest away from me (30 minutes) happens to be the one with the most items on clearance with the best prices. Hmm..

You can go to the close one, purchase item and then get it adjusted at the far store later. That is how I got a $100 back on purchase of the S5. I can't believe one store was charging that more than the other one, but I'm still glad I choose the buy now, ask questions later.

The Canon Rebel XS was released in June 2008. http://www.dpreview.com/news/0806/08061002Canon1000D.asp
Is this the camera that is on clearance?

Or is the Rebel XT on clearance? It was released in April 2005. http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/canoneos350d/

The XT I think was in multiple threads about Sears clearance already .. I think the last price listed was 270 or so. I can't imagine the XS would be on clearance already but sometimes clearance is dictated by what a store wants to carry, not how old the item is.

I saw this camera at a third store yesterday, with a printed yellow clearance tag of $399.97. Of the first two I saw, one had no tag at all, the second, a regular $599.99 tag.

Has this been discussed before - the reasoning behind clearance prices at Sears? I don't buy much at Sears so I'm not familiar with it like I am with Office Depot. The store furthest away has good prices on their clearance stuff (saw a Panasonic upconverting 1080p DVD recorder for $99.97) in addition to having the most things on clearance to begin with.

How much was that S5 you got by the way? I picked up a DSC-H7 for $149.97.. These 'bridge' cameras are nice; I've shifted toward Sony away from Canon lately.

S5 was $280 at one store, then I got $100 back, making it $180.

Do you have the SKU for that DSC-H7, it looks pretty interesting...

So has anybody been able to verify if this is the XT or XS?

Went back to Sears. The XTi was $549.97 at the register - luckily the guy on the floor was the one who sold me my DSC-H7s so he didn't mind since he remembered me.

Good deal on that S5!

I don't have the receipt on me right now, how many digits is a Sears SKU? Just so I know what I'm looking for.
