Only about $17.50 shipping for me. Nice find!

This might be a decent christmas gift for my brother.

Shipping was $24 for me through Amazon, but $34 (like the original poster) directly through the Tiger Direct site.

You should be able to get a 1000VA UPS with AVR included for not much more. Is this thing really that much better (especially considering it has no UPS?).

Why not buy this?

Got the unit....seems like it should do what it was designed to do at a decent price point.

Difference between this unit and those mentioned above and typical ups is the noise filtering on dedicated circuits, delayed power on for amps and subwoofers, and a 12v trigger. Features and flexibility one would look for in setting up a home theater but not necessarily one needs in a ups for computer use.

Then theres the wow factor with the lights, rack mount ability (I'd rather hide mine tho) which one pays for too.

Overall a nice unit at this price, esp considering similar products that monster makes which are more pricier. 5 year warranty here is a plus. Would suffice for basic home theater use, if you want to step up then one would have to move up to the Panamax AC Regenerators or Tice Line Conditioners.

Shipping had originally killed the deal for me.

Then they up'd the price back to $149.99 when they started the $1.99 shipping earlier this week.

Price is back down to $99.99 and qualifies for the reduced shipping so picked up this and a SD card (my old one had just packed in) for around $108 including shipping

Yep, much better served by a 1000va UPS. Most good UPS's do more than good enough line conditioning.
