While the A-HD+ did have HD recording, it didn't feature optical zoom. This one features optical zoom == finally somewhat useful! Don't forget the CashBack! |

The best feature of this camera is the ability to shoot 720p at 60fps. I shoot everything in this mode because if you are shooting any movements it come out much smoother. I recently purchased this, the price dropped at WalMart's site from $199 to $177 a couple weeks ago. Good deal since this is the only place to get the camera. This camera has an autofocus feature which is the biggest downside. There is no way to switch to manual focus or fixed focus so sometimes it can't decide and will constantly be adjusting during a shot. Other downside I have found is that in general, there is not any good software which naturally handles Quicktime HD encoded video files well. Beyond these couple annoyances, I am really enjoying the camera and am learning to work around these shortcomings. |
can't you do the same thing with a panasonic lumix. |
The main negatives the reviews are saying that it has a low build quality, doesn't do well in lower light, has a lot of constant mechanical noise that gets recorded, and doesn't have image stabilization. Is this pretty much all true? Is there a similar style (ie. small) HD camcorder that doesn't have these problems that doesn't cost too much more (ie. under $250)? |
$0.97 shipping, reviews look good for price. I'm giving it a shot. Thx OP! |

We don't have this version, just the regular Flip. This thing is like the iPod of video cameras. It is so easy to use and extremely sturdy, and we take it everywhere with us. |
480i with IS and decent glass is > 720p(or 1080p) without IS |
I picked one of these up on a whim just because it was so cheap. The video quality is actually REALLY good. Only issues I find is that the focus/zoom motors generate pretty good noise on the built in mic, and the auto focus tends to try to adjust too often. For the price though it is awesome. Be sure whatever SD card you buy is Class 6 and fast. I noticed it will work on slower cards but drops frames if the write speed is not fast enough. |
Anyone care to link any video to check out quality?? |
I bought one from Walgreens on Black Friday for $80.00 after $20 rebate. It was an HD with 1080p. I think it was the same one sold at Wal-Mart for $150.00-170.00. |
The Aiptek is $139.46 at Wal Mart now. Anyone else have the Flip HD? Any negatives about it? |

IRabbit's experience matches mine..I have the regular Mino too, and it's brain-dead-easy to use, and has a fantastic microphone, which seems to adjust to spl variances, and records softly if you are just talking, or records 110db music at concerts with minimal distortion. Search youtube for Flip HD to see a plethora of examples. |
Well, I returned the one I bought. Video was grainy (maybe because of the indoor lighting, but still...). Could hear the auto-focus constantly adjusting during playback. Also, as Rigor said, IS is a big deal. I apparently don't have a very steady hand - all the video I took was practically unwatchable. Oh well, thanks OP - I wanted to like it for $150 (or $140 now). |
Not to bad a price on this Sanyo at WalMart............. Sanyo Xacti VPC-HD100 Red ~ High-Definition Camcorder w/ 5x Optical Zoom & 2.5" LCD Display>>$189.47 |
