For the curious, shipping is about $10 unless you get your order total over $100, then it's free. (And it stays free even if the coupon drops the final total below $100).

Don't miss that 5% FatCash.

in for one for me!

oops, I get this and rockband confused... I was all ready to buy one thinking it was rockband. Being able to do singing and drums is more fun imo, but this is a great price

The only difference I could find is that the guitars look different. Ah ha! Nix that. I just realized that one is wireless. Is that worth the extra $$?

Thanks in advance for your expertise (buying for my son.)

Depends on whether it's worth $30 for you to not have the wire between your xbox and the controller. With guitar hero, I never really cared much about it being wired/wireless, but when I got RockBand (and yes, Guitar Hero guitar works on Rock Band) I wish it was wireless - having 4 separate wires going to different controllers were annoying.

On another note, is your son a big Aerosmith fan? If not, I'd recommend you get GuitarHero 2 or 3 for him instead so he gets a more varied songlist. I personally liked 2 more than 3.

Funny, because I preferred GH3 more than GH2. GH3 allows you to tune the lag on your own; using the "star power" doesn't make the entire screen shake (a real nuisance in GH2); personally I enjoyed the songs on GH3 more than GH2; the downloadable content library for GH3 is relatively large and lots more people play it (if you're interested in online play).

I mainly just liked the tracklist of GH2 more, but that's entirely a taste issue. I also thought the difficulty level of GH2 was more balanced (a very wide range of really easy to REALLY hard). I played rockband before GH3 and was annoyed with the overlap in tracklist, but that's not really GH3 fault.

Yeah, I played GH3 before Rock Band, but IMO Rock Band was better than Guitar Hero 3 overall. Once you get used to Rock Band, you really start to like it more and more (again, just my experience). Plus, they had LOTS more downloadable content than GH3 did. Looking forward to Rock Band 2 personally.
