I just bought a GC TWO days ago and they did it to me again! What a horrible horrible service. Last time I bought, they gave me a new certificate, only to tell me a few days later that THAT new restaurant wasn't participating anymore either. Dear XXX XXXXXX As you may know, from time to time restaurants within our program move, are sold, or unfortunately go out of business. We apologize for the inconvenience, but our system indicates that you may have unused certificate number xxxx for Indigo Joe's Sports Pub which is no longer participating in the restaurant.com program. If this certificate is still unused, this email allows you to easily exchange it for credit. With this credit, you can to choose from any of the other restaurants in restaurant.com’s extensive inventory. To exchange your certificate, click here and enter gift certificate number xxxxx to begin your exchange. Thank you very much for your business. Sincerely, The restaurant.com Customer Service Department |
How long does it take to get the certificates? I bought some four weeks ago and have not received them. |

So them offering you another certificate if yours was unused is bad service? How so? |
A lot of these restaurants have minimum purchase restrictions. For example if you buy a $25 GC, the minimum purchase is $50/$60 depending on the restaurant. You are still getting a substantial discount, but just make sure you are aware of it. |
is there anyplace worth eating at in NYC that's you can buy GCs for? looked through the site and only Aloe sticks out. |
Thanks buddy.. heading to sushi place tonight with a $25 certificate for min. of $35.. That's an awesome deal! |

Thanks, ethos is not bad. I'll give kellari a try. You should definitely give aloe a try. |

Can you use more than one certificate at a time? I see some restaurants have $25 certificates for 60% off, but 10$ certificates for 70% off, and a minimum $35 purchase. I'd rather purchase 3 $10 certificates and pay $14+tax+gratuity for my $35 dinner. |
Eh...found it. Limit one (1) redemption per party, per month, per restaurant. |

Last time I bought, they gave me a new certificate, only to tell me a few days later that THAT new restaurant wasn't participating anymore either. Say you go to Kohls.com and they have 6 colors of a style of shirt you want. Lime Green, Orange, Neon Purple, Gold, Fire Red, and Blue. So you pick blue. The next day Kohls sends you an email saying that they are out of blue...pick another color. So you pick Fire Red. Then they send you an email saying they are out of red...pick another color. You'd think: WTF! First you have to take the time and trouble to make the change. Second, your choices are becoming less and less interesting. For any other company it would be a bait and switch. But for restaurant.com it seems to be normal business. Therefore I stand by the comment that it's a horrible service. (Note that I didn't say horrible customer service...although sending an email just saying the equivalent of "pick another color" isn't exactly customer service either.) |
Kohl's decides how much stock to buy. if they run out of blue, it is Kohl's fault. if they run out of red...Kohl's fault. restaurant.com's merchandise is soley based on another company's willing participation. |
