The printer will stop ANY function when any ink cart is empty....that includes scanner.

I did Google search and found this :

How to fool Brother MFC into working when any inkcart is empty

I have not tried this for Brother MFC-240c as i do not yet own one.

Can someone try this and report back.

Thanks

I have been doing this for a while now (over 3 yrs- on different brother AIOs). The other option is to switch off the printer when not in use. Also, the ink carts are very cheap - I usually buy 12or 14 pack (mix B&W/ Color) from eBay for under $20 shipped! That's less then the price one ONE original Canon or HP ink cart! This is a great deal and it has been around for a while (but I think in the past this price was AR).

I, too, bought this (got it from the Egg) off the previous thread; mainly for the doc feeder.
So far it's working great. And for a refurb, it looked NEW! Some green for OP.
BTW - seems to be several threads mentioning this AIO.

I had a Brother AIO for awhile and will never repurchase the brand. Ink is OUTRAGEOUSLY expensive, and the cartridges would dry much faster than my Canon sitting in the same room (which actually saw less frequent use).

Good price for a disposable machine though.

I had posted a deal at Staples about 2 weeks ago, then it died. Back again on the Friday One Day sales, thus a new thread.

I have a DCP-110C that I use the black tape trick. To resolve the daily cleaning cycle "problem" (happens even when turned off), I unplug the printer when not in use. The printer is a few years old, and getting a bit flakey in other ways now, so I just may jump on this deal. Also, my DCP-110C doesn't have a fax, and there are times that would come in handy.

One more "trick"...the printer will stop working after some number of cleaning cycles (you get an "unable to clean" message, and can't print!). Here's the "fix". As I understand it, this procedure works on several Brother models.

I don't use it for a printer, but it is great fax and copier for the money IMO.
