Probably not a big issue, but----the upgrade rebate for Vegas does not specifically list Pinnacle 12 as a qualifying version; it lists: MAGIX video deLuxe, MAGIX Movies to CD & DVD, Pinnacle Studio, Pinnacle Studio 9.0, Pinnacle Studio 9.0 Plus, Pinnacle Studio 9.0, Media Suite, Pinnacle Studio 10.5, Pinnacle Studio 10.5 Titanium Edition, Pinnacle Studio 11, Pinnacle Systems , Ulead Video Studio, roxio VideoWave, Nova Development Video Explosion, Broderbund MovieShop, Adobe Premier Elements, Apple Final Cut Express 2.0, Apple Final Cut Pro 4.0 or Apple iLife.

I suppose the first one on the list (the one that says simply "Pinnacle Studio") or the last one ("Pinnacle Systems ") could mean that ANY Pinnacle version is okay, but if so, I wish they would have just said it that way in the first place.

Buy the Plus version for FAR, then upgrade to the Ultimate for only $29.99 at Pinnacle Online store. Cheaper than buying the Ultimate version from Fry's for $69 +shipping AR.

Crap, I realized that I hadn't even used the Studio Plus v11 from the last deal yet! Will still probably get this one though.

This probably get me some reds and/or some nasty responds, but here goes...@@

I love rebates, it usually makes the deal sweeter. BUT, the only company I have no success on was Pinnacle.

They rejected my rebate submission twice (Studio v11 and also the Dazzle DVD recorder). I am no noob on rebates, consider myself do an average of 30 rebates a year (I know FWers do much more), and 99% did come back. But this company... first one they claimed they never received it (I have the delivery confirmation told me it's delivered), they told me wait for a week and call in again. OK, a week passed, called in, still not received, I said I have copy and be happy to resend it to them, they paused and told me, "Oh, it's too late to do re-submission now. The submission deadline was yesterday." Fine, I swallowed that...

They received the DVD recorder one, it got rejected saying that the purchase date is passed the promotional period (which was a lie since my copy showed it was within their promotional period). I have the copy of it and said I can resend it, they refused and they don't do resubmission passed the due date (Well, they "processed" after a month of submission due date). So both of them actually didn't get honor. I initiated a BBB case right away with all my copy of rebate, and magically, they sent me the email the very next day saying the rebate is approved!! No question asked, I got my check within a week

So, it happened. It was the first time I opened a BBB case with rebate. It worked. But I swore I would NEVER buy any Pinnacle product again.

Anyways, FAR is good stuff. Green for OP

SO OK I'll bite. Does v12, unlike v10, actually work? -or is it more bug-ridden carp that they then use to Spam you to see if you'll be enough of a sucker to buy v13?

I have v11 and it seemingly works fine. From what I have gathered - since Avid now owns Pinnacle the latest versions of Studio have been more stable than past versions.

Thanks for the warning, kirboh. From past experience, Frys is EXCELLENT about standing behind their rebate promotions. Any time I have had hassles with one of their vendors, I send an email or see the local B&M manager, who will often send their own check. In many cases, the fulfillment house ends up sending a check as well, which I consider compensation for the pain and suffering.
