View the details of this phone plus the user manual

Tracfone has it available in the GSM4, GSM5 & GSM5AT markets.
Includes DMFL & free shipping.

Item specific details at Tracfone

Also, this is the first time Tracfone has offered a phone with data capabilities in the T-Mobile market (GSM5) is that an error?
The model number at Circuit City is TFMTW376P4
The P4 indicates that it has a C4 sim card which is AT&T.

I think there is going to be some problems with this phone selling in the GSM5 markets.

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I'm wondering if anyone can tell me if the Motorola W376g would work in the 05060 zip code area. Also, I've been unable to find what tracfone charges for texting with this phone. It seems that some of the Motorolas charge to pick up a text, while others do not.

With another of tracfone's camera phones (the LG 225), from what I could find out, it seemed that while the phone would work in my area, sending pictures might not be an option.

If anyone could give me informaton on the rates and how well this phone might or might not work in my area, I'd be very grateful!!

Thanks,
Nic

Can't answer your first question....going to Tracfone's site will answer that.

....but as far as the text charges, they vary from .3 to .5 unit "both ways".....a send and reply will cost you .6 to 1 unit. I found this out the hard way....ordered it from Tracfone's site (the W370 BTW) for my daughter to get her into "limited" cell phone use with texting capabilities.

Anyway, I argued with Tracfone on it....filed a complaint with the BBB and Tracfone pretty much said that's the way it is...they're not planning on changing it. I also argued the fact that ring tones had to be ordered from their site. The usb capabiliy is disabled on their phones.

But I'm getting long-winded....I think I may have answered what I can for you. Hope it helps.

Thanks for the reply. Could you tell me where on the site to find that information? If I put in my real zipcode, it won't offer me the bundle, but I know from experience that this doesn't mean that the phone won't work in my area. My whole family has been using Nokia 1100s for quite a while now here, and Tracfone always insisted they would not work in this area.

Texting seems to vary from one model to the next and for some reason they don't make the rate information very available on the site. As far as I know, you have to have an actual serial number of the phone to find out what rate is charged--it's not enough just to know the model of phone you're interested in. The 1100s are great, charging only .3 unit to send a text and 0 units to pick up, but I know that some charge more, or charge to pick up. I just don't know where to find this information!

I couldn't care less about the photo capabilities for myself... but this is for my daughter, who is just realllly wanting a camera phone!

Thanks for any other information anyone can give!
Nic

Sorry it took so long. Chances are, if it doesn't show in your zip, it's not available and won't work. If you go into CC or any other store handling the phone, from what Tracfone reps tell me, the text charges are supposed to be on the package. Also, if she wants a camera phone, check into the charges from data...they can be high...and based (I believe) on what your current units left are....really strange, but check it out.

For xeno....there's no easy way to unlock it...sorry.

Here is the pricing information for data service:
http://tracfone.com/data/conversion.jsp

Tracfone is available in my area but they don't give me the option to buy the W376g. I can buy a W376g somewhere else, but are you saying it wouldn't work here?

Do they offer other GSM phones in your area? Do they offer the C261 or the W370? Both of those phones also have data services.
If they offer one of those phones in your area and not the W376 then I know you are in a COGSM4 market and the W376 will work there also.

The W376 is only offered in GSM4, GSM5 & GSM5AT areas.
But it will work in any area that has AT&T service available. A COGSM4 area has AT&T available, but they just chose not to offer it there. Probably because a COGSM4 area usually has some rural coverage that is better served by the CDMA carrier in that area instead of AT&T.

But if you live in a COGSM4 area, then the phone should work there while on AT&T, but actual GSM service coverage there would have to be determined by you.

Now, every statement I made above should be the same for the COGSM5 areas, but I am not going to say that because this is the first phone with data services that Tracfone has ever offered outside of the AT&T areas.

Thanks for the info. I called tracfone yesterday and they told me it will work in my area, even though it's not offered here. (I'm very rural). I bought one from Circuit City online yesterday so we shall see. They do offer both of those other phones you mentioned. My guess is they are trying to sell out those w370's they have on special before they offer it. Just a guess though.

I never liked tracfones really, I always thought they were a bit crappy because I never saw any that had good features. Good to know that some at least come with a Bluetooth feature.

I have the Motorola W376g right here. It's a pretty good phone only one problem: TRACFONE TOOK OUT THE BLUETOOTH LINK!!! You can use a bluetooth headset but that's about it. When I try to connect it via bluetooth to my computer to transfer files, it will NOT let me, the only thing I can do is some serial port thing. But besides that i'm pretty satisfied with this phone. The FM radio has RDS on it so it shows the station information (I find this really cool)

Can you listen to the radio through the bluetooth?

Honestly, I am not sure, as I do not have a bluetooth headset (I plan to get it back from my friend sometime this week) but that would be awesome if you could! I can tell you that the FM radio is still mono (only plays in one earphone) BUT if you do this little trick when you don't plug in the headset all the way, it will go in both ears (stereo).

We assumed that if they wouldn't let us transfer files using the usb port they probably wouldn't let it be done using the bluetooth either.

The instructions say that the phone uses the wire from the headset as the radio antenna. So my guess is no FM radio w/ bluetooth.

Just FYI. When I called they told me it WOULD work in my area but an email response told me it WOULD NOT. Well I received it today and it works fine here. I'm very rural. I had 234 minutes on the old phone and had them transfer it and they transfered 250 minutes.

Great, glad it works.
Tracfone always rounds up to the next 10 on the minutes. You had 234, they rounded that up to 240 and then you got the 10 minutes for a new activation. Total 250.
What is your zip code for reference?

72958 I was able to connect to the web and download a ringtone too. It is a SLOW connection. When I was done I had 236 minutes left. 8.7 for the ringtone and the rest for web time. The good thing is it counts down as you use the web and makes a tone each time half a unit comes off the phone.

Forgot to mention... it starts counting as soon as you go to browse, NOT when you connect. Most of my time was spent connecting.

Since you first posted and called tracfone etc, etc, there were some changes. Yesterday Tracfone put the W376g as available for all markets with GSM service. So it is now showing as available in your zip code.

You can also email mid ringtones to your phones. Lots cheaper than web access.
We haven't figured out how to email mp3 ringtones and make them play yet. The only difference is the mid ringtones don't have the vocals, same music though. If you need assistance with it just ask.
Lots of nice free ringtones HERE
